This Privacy Policy explains how Hannahmax LLC ("we," "us," "our"), publisher of The Jerusalem Letter newsletter and operator of jerusalemletter.com and thejerusalemletter.com (together, the "Service"), collects, uses, and protects your information.
1. Who We Are
The Jerusalem Letter is a weekly newsletter and companion website.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide: your email address when you subscribe; your name, if given; any message you send us (e.g., replying to the newsletter or using a contact form).
Automatically collected: email engagement data (opens, clicks) through our newsletter platform, beehiiv; basic technical/log data (IP address, browser/device type, pages visited) through our website host, Framer, and related infrastructure.
Cookies and similar technologies: our website may use cookies or similar technology for basic site functionality and to understand traffic.
We do not currently sell anything directly through the Service, so we do not collect payment information. If that changes, we will update this Policy before we do.
3. How We Use Your Information
To deliver the newsletter and respond to your messages.
To understand readership (e.g., which editions resonate) so we can improve the Service.
To maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the Service.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not sell your personal information.
4. Who We Share It With
We share information only with service providers who help us operate the Service, under obligations to protect it appropriately:
beehiiv — email delivery and subscriber management
Framer — website hosting
Other hosting/infrastructure providers as needed to run the Service
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
If an edition of The Jerusalem Letter is printed or distributed by a partner organization (for example, a church or synagogue reading group), that partner receives the published content only — not your personal subscriber information — unless you separately and knowingly give it to them yourself. A dedicated partner agreement, covering data handling for any future partner platform, will be published separately and referenced here once it exists.
5. Where Your Data Is Processed
Because our service providers operate internationally, your information may be processed in countries other than the one you live in, including Israel and the United States.
6. Your Choices and Rights
Unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every email.
Access, correct, or delete your personal data by emailing alex@jerusalemletter.com.
If you are located in the EU/UK/EEA or California, you may have additional rights under applicable law (such as the GDPR or CCPA), including rights to data portability and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. We do not "sell" personal information as that term is used under the CCPA.
7. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as you remain subscribed, or as needed to operate the Service, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date.

6. Partner Organizations
Organizations (such as churches or synagogues) that print or distribute The Jerusalem Letter to their own community do so under the license in Section 5 unless a separate written partner agreement is in place. A dedicated Partner Agreement, covering any future partner platform and additional partner-specific terms, will be published separately.

When interacting with us (for example, replying to emails or contacting us), you agree not to:
Send unlawful, abusive, or harassing content.
Attempt to disrupt the Service or gain unauthorized access to it.
Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or organization.
8. Third-Party Links

9. Future Products
We may in the future offer additional products (such as books or merchandise) through the Service. Separate terms will apply to any such purchases when they are introduced.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hannahmax LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service (including your subscription) at our discretion, including for violation of these Terms.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
